Brigette Cormier has been creating art in Miami since she graduated from the New World School of the Arts (NWSA) BFA Dance program in 2011. At the start of her career, she was teaching dance classes, and opened 276 Art Studio in Wynwood, a theater and gallery. There she curated visual art, opened a retail store, founded her dance company BC Dance Co., and added teaching meditation to her repertoire. She danced professionally with dance companies such as Peter London Global Dance Company, Whole Project, and Pioneer Winter Dance.

Brigette was in choreographic residency at the Rift Blackbox Theater and premiered her first evening length ballet “Joan the Ballet” there in 2014 and her second “TV NO” there a year later. In 2016 and 2017 NYC-based dance company SHIFT Dance Arts & Media commissioned Brigette to create the two-part ensemble work “Missed Connections”.

Brigette’s dances have been commissioned by Compositum Musicae Novae (CMN) throughout their 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2020 concert performance series at the Coral Gables Museum, and she was the Dance Liaison on the CMN board of directors.

Brigette received Miami Light Project’s Here & Now: 2017 award for her dancework “Millennia”, and in 2018 she was commissioned by Miami Theater Center (MTC) for their SandBox Artist Residency Series, where she created and premiered the 40 minute avant-garde ensemble work “From the Dirt”.  In addition to creating danceworks, throughout her career Brigette has regularly produced and hosted community ballet and contemporary classes with various organizations, such as MTC.

Brigette was also the choreographer and movement director for Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera, founded by Dr. Liza Seigido; she choreographed and performed the dances for “Myths & Spirits” (2017) and  “Cyborgs are Dancing” (2019-2020). Brigette continues to create danceworks to this day, with a focus on installation and video dance.

As an educator Brigette has over 20 years experience in teaching ballet and creative movement, and over 13 years experience teaching contemporary dance. She has hosted workshops throughout South Florida, as well as enjoyed being on the faculty of dance studios such as PAN Performing Arts Network, Thomas Armour Youth Ballet, and Mady’s Dance Factory. Currently, Brigette produces and directs children’s dance programs in Public and private schools such as South Pointe Elementary School and Shalom Montessori.

Barre Master Teacher Trainer and Pilates Mat certified, Brigette has over 10 years experience teaching group fitness and one-one-one movement practices.

In 2017 Brigette opened her coaching business “Love Steady Lifestyle” and has since built a worldwide online community, bringing her guided meditation classes to a wider audience. Today, Brigette continues to host guided meditation events and publishes written and video work regularly for Love Steady Lifestyle.

In 2018, Brigette began managing the social media accounts for her friends and clients, and to this day she continues to offer media consulting and social media management to private clients and organizations such as Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.
