Brigette Cormier is a choreographer and producer in Miami, FL with BFA degree in dance from the New World School of the Arts (NWSA) (2011). After NWSA Brigette opened 276 Art Studio in Wynwood, a theater and gallery. There she curated visual art and founded her dance company BC Dance Co. From there she was in choreographic residency at the Rift Blackbox Theater and premiered her first evening length ballet “Joan the Ballet” there in 2014 and her second “TV NO” there a year later. In 2016 and 2017 NYC-based dance company SHIFT Dance Arts & Media commissioned Brigette to create the two-part ensemble work “Missed Connections”.

Brigette’s dances have been commissioned by Compositum Musicae Novae (CMN) throughout their 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2020 concert performance series at the Coral Gables Museum, and was the Dance Liaison on the CMN board of directors.

Brigette received Miami Light Project’s Here & Now: 2017 award for her 20-minute dancework “Millennia”, and in 2018 she was commissioned by Miami Theater Center (MTC) for their SandBox Artist Residency Series, where she created and premiered the 40 minute avant-garde ensemble work “From the Dirt”. She is currently developing her newest dance works at MTC and offering open community ballet and contemporary classes there as well.

Brigette has created site-specific dance works & installations for numerous organizations and events, most recently, a dance installation for the Florida Dance Educators Organization in Downtown Miami.

Brigette was also the choreographer and movement director for Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera, founded by Dr. Liza Seigido; she choreographed and performed the dances for “Myths & Spirits” (2017) and  “Cyborgs are Dancing” (2019-2020).

She is Barre Certified through Barre Motion and Mat Pilates Certified with Inner Balance Mind Body, and teaches workshops and classes in the fitness and mindfulness industry.
